I've seen people with dogs there before, not sure about regulations though, like leash law etc.

There are no rules for dogs as far as I know of. You may check with the Louisiana Wilderness Area website on there regulations. As for bringing the dog, I see no reason unless he or she isn't used to the trail. I would hate to keep other hangers up all night with a pooch that barks at shadows.

Jazilla there's a store here in Alexandria called Run Wild they sell ENO's there they may let me hang a flyer there if you have anything made up I can print out.
I have not put together a flyer. I thought about it and have been asked by one other person but I am not a fan of the idea myself. For one i didn't want to attract folks looking for a meal with no interest in camping or hammocks in general. Second, while I don't want to limit the hang to just forum members and their friends and family, I would like to keep it within the backpacking and camping community. For this reason I have avoided making a flyer to go to places like Academy or Lafayette Shooters who cater more to general outdoors (ie hunting, fishing, etc) than camping.
But by no means does this mean it should stop anyone else from dong it. It is just my own opinion. talbtimber, I have no idea what kind of store Run Wild may be but feel free to contact Swampsloth or Oldriverrat as they have been our contact with local outfitters.

I plan on bringing my boxer. He's very well behaved and doesn't ever bark.
If you ain't havin' fun, you're doin' it wrong
Jizilla, those are some very valid points you have for not putting flyers out to the general population. The first thing I though about is this guy at work that signs up for anything if it’s posted that lunch will be provided. He even went to a 6 week stop smoking program and he didn’t even smoke! But he was the first to run to the buffet table at break.

re hunting, it's in Region 2, and archery deer season's open. regardless of law, i'd leash one if were to bring it at all.
i'm not sure if the area is considered a WMA, but if so, dogs are specifically prohibitted except for during special hunting seasons, when they may be used. dogs may not run at large in a WMA (hunting regs, bottom of page 39, top of page 40).
i looked quickly through the Kisatchie National Forest regs, and found nothing to specifically prohibit unleashed dogs, but common courtesy (stronger than any law) dictates you would do so when others are around.
Been sitting here percolating on the possibility of attending this event again. As usual, I was double booked, but might have concocted a scheme to wiggle off the other hook.
So, is the road any better than last year? (That gravel road is not exactly street bike friendly and the Harley is still my main mode of transport.) If not, I might want to arrive in daylight.
Thanks for all the hard work in organizing this event!

How many kids will be there because my wife and kids are thinking about coming?

I hope we have lots kids there; I love the look on their faces when I do the porcupine poop prank! But I’m going to need the assistance of another adult. They need to be a good actor and be able to keep a straight face. Details when we get there.
