Changing clothes... just lower the tarp?

Some backgrond...I'm a noob at this hammock camping stuff. I bought a HH that I used on my last trip with the boy scouts. I used it one night and my 13 year old used it the other. We both liked it far better than the tent and so I bought another hammock (a Claytor) since he says the HH is his now. FWIW the overnight low was ~ 68 both nights and we were both fine using just a fleece sleeping bag liner and no pad. Hot sleepers I guess.

My (and his) question is... since we won't have a tent to change in anymore what solutions have you guys found fast & easy for changing? Do you just lower the tarp on one or both sides or is there another solution I'm not thinking of? I went with the big 3x4M Claytor rain fly with this in mind.

The boy scouts are pretty modest at this age insisting on chaging alone in their tents, and the BSA youth protection policy is pretty strict requiring adults to change in an isolated area. So is my easiest solution just rigging a changing area with a tarp, or is it possible to change in a hammock?

You can change in a hammock, just not the easiest thing to do. If you must be modest, I would just lower the tarp a bit. The only thing that will be showing are your lower legs and those nasty hiker feet.
    Trust nobody!

I just mentioned this on another thread. I will be hiking with Scouts this year with my Hennessy hammock so I bought a larger tarp. Being a hiking mom, I need the extra privacy of larger tarp. My 11 x 10 tarp gives lots of privacy.

Last year I did some changing in hammock with smaller tarp pulled down. It's doable, but not real fun for an older gal.

With a 10'x10' or bigger tarp you can configure like these and have all the privacy you want

I sit in the slit of the Hennessy to change my shirts, and pull my legs into the hammock to change pants. Even the stock tarp gives you coverage for this. With the larger tarp I usually stand under it next to the hammock on a trash bag to change clothes.

    Cavscout,

What kind of tarp is that grey/green one? Are those custom tie outs on the sides that allow for that set up or did it come like that?

I have two large 3x4m rain flys coming and with tie outs on the side that would be a nice set up for cold blowing rain and for changing.

Is that a zipper or velcro on the ends of the top tarp pic or is it just tied tightly?

That was youngblood's earlier version of a winter hammock tarp/tent.
He decided that design was to demanding on different slopes, etc, & to time consuming w/ all the adjustments.
Later he came out w/ a much more versatile, practical version, the Speer Winter Tarp (SWT).

The camo tarp wasn't mine but as I recall it was a rectangular 9x11 tarp, pitched with the ridgeline on the 9 foot dimension.
