New Way to Suspend SB Pro Net

Shortly after I got my GTSB Pro I added a structural ridge line on the outside of the skeeter net. The problem, I felt, with putting the line inside the netting like Grizz did was that it left a whole lot of netting flopping around plus it requires a bit more handy work than I currently have time or inclination to do.

I've been using and hating the factory setup with elastic around both trees to suspend the net. Until now...

I attached a short piece of elastic to the suspension at each end of the hammock with a loop tied at the other end. By running the stick through the loop, the netting stays tensioned and the sticks stay horizontal.

I'm camping this weekend so I'll give an update when I get back.

I have done this as well, I had to keep the sticks as narrow as possible as not to interfere with the tarp. If there is no rain and you can keep the tarp high or in porch mode it works great. One night it rained and I had to close the tarp down some and was sleeping soundly when all of a sudden I was whacked in the face! I sat up to see what was goin on and realized that the stick broke! After that I went with the internal ridgeline

Cool idea! I'll have to try it next time I'm out. I have the SB UL but it's close to the same idea for the netting. That's my biggest complaint with the hammock. It's like they used quadruple the amount of bug netting than what was needed.

Great idea, thanks. I'll try it in my SB Pro.
You can be wet and miserable, or you can choose to just be wet.

Cool beans, I was planning on doing that, but instead used sections of a old tent pole last night. Worked great, plus you can unzip and tuck the skeeter net up on the poles and have a nice open window

So with the tent pole, I found it makes for a good cargo area as well. Heck it even held my cowboy hat without any issuses

    GrayDog,

How's your setup working? I have this hammock and am ready to modify it to suspend the netting. I'm leaning towards an internal ridgeline, but would like to hear your opinion of your external ridgeline/trail stick setup.

I'd appreciate comments from anyone who's modded their Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter's netting suspension. The original shock cord method has got to go...

    Regards,
