I shopped around here in Ottawa, and pretty much every fabric supplier that had what I wanted was WAY too expensive. Order online from one of the suppliers here and things will look better! I don't know how they get away with the prices here sometimes...

Canadian Amazon is pretty neutered compared to the awesome American version. I do end up buying stuff from the American site sometimes and paying for shipping, usually for things like zippers in colours that match my hammocks. If I'm ordering supplies from the States I'd rather buy from a "local" guy like Scott rather than some random company. I'm usually pretty jealous about all the cool stuff on Amazon US with your free shipping, though.

That sucks... If i thought it would save you any money I would offer to order it myself with my free shipping and then ship it to you but I'm pretty sure it would end up being more... We have an Amazon prime account which means on a lot of items we get free 2 day shipping and $4 next day shipping

Only some stuff from Amazon.com will ship to Canada, otherwise we have to order from Amazon.ca which does not have close to the amount of stuff amazon.com has.

I placed a order from diygearsupply total order cost before shipping was $120 and $13 for shipping to Canada which is great, the number one thing that I look for when buying from the US is shipping, some people want a lot for shipping, then there is always the chance of being charged duty, Luckily I didn't get hit.

I'll probably be placing another order with him since I need more amsteel.

Hoe much stuff do you need for $120... What are you making a hammock army?

Sorry, so much retail is cross border I assumed they were too. OTOH, will Joann's ship to Canada? A lot of the 40% coupons are for mail order. ;-)

8 yards of ripstop (two hammocks or one double layer, not sure what I will make yet) and then 7 yards of silnylon plus webbing, hardware, rope. It adds up :P
