    Retailers

Try finding a coupon for retailers. The first time I bought fabric for a hammock, I was a little surprised how much it was. The 2nd time I bought fabric I had a 40% off coupon and it worked out to a decent price.

I just ordered two "table cloths" 60x126, ~90ft of Amsteel, and ~10ft of Glowire for around $50. A co-worker gave me over 100ft of muletape, so that'll be my tree huggers.

That's not bad at all for two hammocks! I know it's not the most accepted setup, but I plan on using cat-cut & duct tape reinforced plastic drop cloths for tarps ($3 Lowes each). My family only camps a few times each year, so I don't see the need (at this point) for super fancy tarps. Plus, New Mexico is dry to the bone right now.

Just be careful that the mule tape is wide enough to not damage the trees. The more width, the better.

Does anyone have a list of both Canadian and American suppliers and where you can find coupons?

Here in Czech Republic, Europe, it is not possible to get anywhere ripstop nylon. Importing it from Ebay or the companies mentioned earlier in this thread is possible but the shipping make it expensive again then.
Therefore i am using 100% polyester which is strong enough to hold me.
Average costs without suspension is for me 4 usd per hammock, with suspension around 10 to 12 usd.

Not knocking DIYGearsupply - I have stuff from them and am quite happy with it. OTOH for somebody who just want to play subscribe to Joann's as they do 40% coupons a couple of times a month. That puts either 1.9 oz sport nylon or ripstop under $5 a running yard. 4 yards gets a hammock for most folks.

Just for a point of reference, the original poster of this thread is located in Canada. There are no Joann's stores that I am aware of in Canada. If it comes down to needing it to be shipped, might as well support a forum vendor and get it from Scott at DIYGearSupply / Backwoods Day Dreamer.

    Cheers

What about Amazon.com does that work for Canada... Do Canadian retailers use this as much as American retailers do... They have ripstop nylon (unspecified weight) for just about $6 a yard with free shipping... But I'm in conus...
