Making a bipod system for camping w/o trees, but the lashing is slipping down the pipe once loaded...any ideas?
I'd rather not drill through the pipe as it's borderline thin as it is now...

Possibly some sort of yoke to join the two at the top, probably be a weight penalty or depending on the pipe material you might reshape the ends flat and join them with a metal fastener and a bushing sort of arrangement. What sort of material are you working with?

I was thinking the same...but at a loss so far.
The top of the poles (not sure of the material) has some rounded spikes intended to be inserted through a tarp grommet.
I'm somewhat worried about using those spikes as an anchor point (not sure how they are held in place)...but I suppose I could put my motorcycle helmet on and give it a try ;>
Pillow under your bum wouldn't hurt either...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

Maybe try a couple of wraps of vulcanized tape to add some grip to the poles, then lash over it. I have done that in the past, but not for this specific application.
You can buy mast clamps or grounding clamps to fit a lot of sizes of pipe/tubing. They will not hold the tubes together but they probably will keep the lashings from moving down.
It would help if we could see it I think.
I would go +1 in the tape though. That sounds like the best idea, and you can even get tape that is sand-papery so there would be even more friction.
Past that, there are probably some knots that would work better I guess.
Did you wrap and frap at the end of the lashing?
Oh, scratch all that and put some old bike inter-tubes over the end of the pole.
The rubber should grab pretty well.
How about starting out with and icicle hitch on each pole and then perform the lashing from there? You could "set" the hitch before starting to lash and see if that keeps it from slipping down. You might be able to do this with one piece of line somehow, but you might also need two separate pieces, one for each pole?? This is all just theoretical, its the sort of bad idea I would try.
Good luck,
