i'm short - any cause for concern?

I am pretty short - like 5'6" Will that matter when setting up a hammock and tarp to get things high enough - particularly on a hill or mountain side, particularly the tarp ridgeline...as it needs to be higher than the hammock.

I am just forseeing myself trying to get it tied off level on an incline and having difficulty dealing with the tree that is lower down the slope.

    Is my concern valid?

    You're taller than my girlfriend.

She has had to pick her sites more carefully a couple of times, but it is rarely an issue for her.

You'll hang the hammock at "sit height" anyway - which is different for all of us - I could see an incline being a bit more challenging but you should be fine...

BUT! In a forest full of horizontal swinging knifes mounted at 5'7" it sounds like you'll be perfect to me?? Don't jump!
You don't HAVE TO be crazy to be here - But I assure you it will help.....

    My last physical says I shrank to 5' 7 3/4", but I still tell people I'm 5' 8".
I never encountered swinging knives, but I usually never have to worry about spider webs on the trail.
You'll be fine because the trees go all the way to the ground.

FYI, in practice, the tarp rl is almost never above the hammock suspension, and quite often will be below it.

Just in case there ever is a problem, some one here reported using their treking pole to push the strap up the tree. Seems to me any piece of forked limb could work. For what it's worth, a lot of fine folks like it here as well, Welcome from Ga.

Hiking poles or even trail sticks can be used to push up straps higher up the trees. Being short will mean you can get shorter quilts and such to save you pack weight
