Quick question. About to order up a bunch of stuff to rig suspensions for 2 more hammocks. I like to order everything from a single source when I can and DIYGearsupply seems to have it all. Only problem is I don't have a sewing machine to make loops on the tree straps/webbing. I was going to order about 50ft for 4 10ft straps and some extra. Is there any way to attach straps without a loop to run the one end through?
I love your not having a sewing machine is not keeping you from getting things done!
However, not saying you have too but you can always hand sew some loops, if loops is what you want and don't have a machine.
You can also tie a water knot in one end to make it's own loop.
I'm on the PS3 so i cannot paste a link. Youtube video water knot webbing loop and you should find it. It's very simple!

It's a hammock thing, you won't understand!
The wife no longer kicks me out of bed after she saw a hammock hanging in the dog house.
When I started out not long ago I started out with a water knot. It works great but eats up a lot of webbing. My first sewn loops were done with a Speedy Stitcher sewing Awl. Google it. REI usually has them. It worked great, and I would not be without my Speedy Stitcher on a trip anyway. It can be used for so many different repairs on the trail and it isn't very expensive. perfect. exactly what i was looking for. just ordered 2 ENO SN's from Amazon and a whole bunch of Amsteel, webbing, zing-it, shock cord, etc. to make setups for my roommate and girlfriend as surprise gifts.
it all started from ordering an ENO DN 2 weeks ago. now i feel silly for buying the premade kit from Arrowhead, but in reality the cost compared to materials is not all that high. so now I will be making 4 whoopie slings, 4 straps with the water knot, 2 adjustable SRL and got the extra stuff to start playing with tarp tie-outs and what-not.

I just tie a loop with a figure eight knot - super secure and easy to untie if need be.
I've used a water knot, figure 8 loop, and have even marlinspike hitched a loop at the end of my huggers. As HeathC says, never let a sewing machine (or the lack thereof) keep you from doing what you love.
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

Have had good luck using a 'double' marlin spike hitch and a carabiner. Put the strap around the tree, overlap the two sides and tie a marlin spike hitch with both layers. Put the carabiner through the loop, pull tight. Best solution? Probably not, but it's easy and you don't need to sew.
Second to the sewing awl. Or a hand-made one with a very heavy (160?) needle. The standard heavy twine that comes with one, about 1mm, probably has a tensile strength of 70+lb. So a stitch has a strength of ~100lb. A dozen stitches (assuming the webbing is strong) and you're good to go. Double that for safety.
Practice, and that's just 5 minutes work.
Just to give another option, try a timber hitch. Like the other suggestions it eats up more webbing than a sewn loop but it works and is easily undone.
