Dutch Buckle vs. Dutch Whoopie Hook

Buckle for 3 seasons. Straps in winter. I don't have much need for hooks since all my hammocks have their own suspension.

One trip last year had a light rain overnight turning to snow after daylight. Whoopies froze solid, and the tree huggers froze to the tree. Webbing will still adjust when stiff.

Hello, new hanger here. I just ordered my WBBB with webbing/buckle suspension. I had my mind made up to swap the webbing/buckle for Dutch's whoopie hook suspension, but now I came across this thread and I have doubts. I don't really understand why it's such a pain for big and small trees? In other threads, it is said that when trees are too big then the loop can be "completed" with the whoopie sling. And if the tree is small, does it really matter at which height the end of your tree hugger ends up, since you can adjust the height of the hammock itself with the whoopie?

With system #3, the Dutch buckle suspension, would it not be the best of both worlds to use the strap with the buckle, but use a whoopie sling with a whoopie hook on it + small continuous loop at the hammock itself? This way your suspension is completely separate from the hammock, and the whoopie hook acts as the water trap under the tarp?

Personally I use a tree hugger/toggle/whoopie setup, but a friend of my changed his blackbird over to Dutch buckles and his kids hammocks as well. He had me make him tree huggers with just one loop from 1" webbing and is making the switch because he considers it easier and quicker to setup.
