I've seen a list and definition of acronyms on a different forum once that helped me understand what people were talking about. Could be helpful here as well. Can't lie I get lost in them all the time
Where's my de-coder ring ???

As a Newbee, it would really be helpful if someone started a list of terms and abbreviations so us new guys could better understand.
Maybe it already exists and I just haven't found it. If not, someone start it and the rest of us could add to it.
Check my sig line for a link. "Acronyms"

I think that asking questions is a better way of learning and for teaching others. I have learned more from posts with a question in the subject line than anything I've searched for. I also find that I get better reponses from posts I've made in the form of a question.
I also love to read "first hang" posts. I've found I've learned a lot from them.
But more than anything else, I've learned more from just going out and hanging the damting from a couple of trees and getting into it. Nothing in the world teaches better than landing on your butt from 20" up. It ain't gonna kill ya, and nothing will get real hurt but your pride.
I've gone from hanging the Hennesy way, to descender rings, to cinch buckles. On my way home tonite I'm going to stop ioff and get one of those $20.00 Byers hammocks to try whoopies slings out on. The first goal was to hang, the second was to find an easier way to set up, the next was to find an even easier way (for me), and the next is to lighten things up.
If you really want to enjoy your hammock, don't get too many answers on how to do it. Just go out and fiddle wth it. Just do it in your backyard or where nobody who knows you can see you
