Here is a map of Mt. Greylock:

And this shows where I will be parking and hiking on the Hopper Trail (in red) to the campground.

The big thing people need to know is that its a hike in to camp. This is not a car camping set up. Its the only negitive I can see.

I would like to do a winter hang in Mt. Washington S.F. Its only a 1 1/2 mile hike to the campground and its free to camp. Its a fairly easy hike in, and the another mile to Alander Mt.

Good point genegene, I probably did not point out that fact very well. I was used to talking about it in person with R3l@x, so it may not have come out in the thread very well.

The access to the site is by hiking only. The hike in is not very far.

The Mt. Greylock primitive camping area offers a car free environment with spectacular views and a rare alpine environment. The Mt. Greylock primitive camping area can be reached by a 2.5 mile hike from the Hopper Road Trail Head at the base of the mountain. A less strenuous 1.3 mile hike to the camping area is available from the parking lot located on the mountain road.
At 3,491 feet, Mt. Greylock is the highest peak in Massachusetts. Acquired by the Commonwealth in 1898, it was Massachusetts' first state park. For years, Mt. Greylock has inspired artists and writers, including authors Herman Melville and Henry David Thoreau. After arriving at the summit you may see a panorama of five states.

Facility: Mt. Greylock offers a hike-in, car-free camping experience

I am tryin to get there for Friday night mid day Saturday. Depends on what my sons wants to do. If he only wants to go for Saturday Sunday. Then that is what I will be doing. It is his birthday so his wishes come first. Hope to see you guys again and meet others for the first.

Thanks for jumping in and reserving the site while I was traveling on business Raiffnuke. I appreciate you stepping in. Things got crazy at work and still are.

Thanks for all the great work setting this up.
