    The Tahitian "Hanger"

    Hey there,

my name is Jerome and i was born and raise in Tahiti - French Polynesia. I have moved to France for studies when i was 18 and i am still there

This summer, a friend and me have decided to sleep in wood and try some bushcraft around Montpellier. After many research we found that Hammock was a great sleeping solution for a light back pack and fun ! Special thanks to Shug that have helped us alot choosing stuff with his "how to" youtube video. Another thanks to Derek Hansen for his great ebook called "The Ultimate Hang", a real help for noobies like us.

We have started some trip around Montpellier and it's all fun for now ! This is what we use :

    - Ticket to the moon Hammock
    - Decathlon Tarp (for rain)
    - Sleeping bag for top quilt
    - Another sleeping bag for underquilt (reduced size and some modification i made to hook it up)

I still need to have some stuff like :

    - A great Bushcraft knife and a firesteel (was thinking of a Mora, the Bushcraft Survival one)
    - A good and lightweight rucksack
    - Food and something for cook, dunno what to eat for a 3-4 days trip
    - And shoes for moutain walk

I maybe need some other stuff, but i discover my needs during small trips i am doing wih my mate

We like bushcraft and survival, but we are noobs... So we are learning step by step during small trip. That's all, you know evertything

PS: Sorry for my bad english

    WooooooooooBUDDY ! haha

    Your English...

...is better than my French-Polynesian-Tahitian! Welcome to the forum. You'll get the guidance you need here, that a certainty. It sounds like you've got the basics figured out. A little help on the menu is always good, it can be confusing. Calorie dense with a long shelf life is a good idea: chocolate, nuts, cheese, etc. Other hikers will have other perspectives, be sure to check them out!
