    My Dangerbird 70

Is still in customs. But tomorrow or day after that I will have it. I will but it hanging and will take some pictures.

    Hope it does not rain.

    First impressions

I bought the DangerBird to my winter hammock. I'm very happy with my SwitchBack. I like the symmetry, I can go in what ever side I want, I can sleep any direction I like. But with my Wiggys Antarctic + Overbag it is quite tight fit. I can sleep in it OK, but the bag will fall out very easy. SB is 52" and DangerBird 72". And the other thing that got my attention was the built in weather cover in DB.

DangerBird DL 72 in it's bag is big. I will take pictures it with SB and BB. BB is the smallest one. All are DL hammock.

DangerBird DL 72 is heavy. I would hesitate to take with me without pulk or canoe, or car. But as I said I bought it to be my winter hammock.

I brifely tested the weather cover system. It is quite a acrobatic drill to get it on and off while laying in hammock. This was the thing I did fear beforehand.

I do not like the fact that I have to first stretch out, crawl and wiggle in the hammock when I want out from it. And also when getting in closing weather cover will probably mess the order of my insulations. Based on this first test I will probably use it in that mode where the other end is net and the other is weather cover. That way I will get the similar experience when in SB. Only losing the luxury to change sleeping direction when ever I want - Of course the netting will be on my head end.

Oh and, colors are sweet! It is MY Bright and shiny Smurf Hammock. Me like it!!!

But more with pictures during this evening...

Glad you got yours. I am tall, and my HH let me get a decent lay, but not as comfortable as i would have liked. After pricing the HH offerings, I am seriously looking at the DB 72. I am considering double layer, depending on weight. Can you weigh yours, please? Mine will be for four season use, with a Hammock Gear underquilt. Summers/early fall scouting, winters hunting. I am excited about it, and if I can't do one of these a WBBB may have to suffice.

By the way, what was your order number/ wait time, if I may ask?

    Thanks,

    pat

    First pics

My order number was 101. I took time to get it, four? weeks, I'm not sure. But not too much.

Weight is 1720 g about 60 Oz with webbing suspension and Dutch clips. I did not make a safety knot with buckles, forgot, but no fall. If the knot is not necessary it would be great thing, one extra job less. Does anyone know?

Color was Sage green, White, Light blue weather cover. Weather cover is perfectly colored, very nice inside. I will post inside pics also at some point.

By the way I do not use side tie outs in any of my hammocks, I do not get the point, they are only on my way and they need extra fiddling when putting hammock up and taking it down.

And here are the first pics... about five second between each...said my wife.

Oops, it was 1720 g, and that makes just 60 oz. Thanks PapaSmurf. Should have noticed that 720 g way is too little when making conversion.

Can I use those buckles without safety knot?

You should be good without one. I've never used one with those cinch buckles.

    Comparet to BB

BlackBird 1.7 DL weights 1120 g aka. 40 oz. It is more compressible also, goes almost half to the space DB DL takes.

Webbings are inside the BB's bag. That can be done also to the DB.
