Woopies are the way to go. It is an "Ultralight" hammock after all. I had the problem of the stock UL ropes slipping in the rings, so I had to tie another hitch. Put up with that for a few hangs before switching to woopies. The thicker rope of an Expedition didn't slip for some reason.

One can always add a loop to the clove hitch if you want to but it works fine. We are talking the hinge side of the rings. Flat braid in the other side has it's own pinch force. I always back the clove hitch with a half hitch. It just needs to transfer the load to the rings and keep them from spreading. In that regard the clove hitch also keeps the rings pinched when the load is under tension.

I have yet to figure out how to tie a prussic in a single rope. If you are talking about using a loop with a prussic on the rings and a prussic on the hammock rope it gets pretty complicated.

Higher traction due to larger surface area contacts.
