A Noob question about table cloths

I am reading many posts about using a 'crinkle taffeta' table cloth as a hammock. Is this material as strong as nylon or parachute material? Would it support a guy at 6' and 230lbs?

It should be plenty strong enough; I've had well over 300lbs on mine and I've read of others on here using it well beyond that.

I have two of them coming in the mail hopefully Monday. Got 100ft of Amsteel in the mail today and made my first whoopies. I cannot speak for it's durability right now. But I can say this will be a great 2nd hammock. My first one was a diy...and I don't plan on turning back.
    It's a hammock thing, you won't understand!

The wife no longer kicks me out of bed after she saw a hammock hanging in the dog house.
