My hang at Koomer Ridge.
ka8yiu: are you tied to the light/lantern post in that picture? I've read about Koomer Ridge and was near there once last summer. As I've said, I'm open to anywhere and a place where one of us has experienced it always better.
I have some personal health issues that are going to make it diffecult for me to commit to a specific date but I like the idea of a spring hang gathering. I would suggest that we aim for April/May as the earliest I would want to try because of the cool temps overnight. This time frame would allow anyone, like me, to get my gear together and prepare for this gathering, as well as share experiences while setting up at the actual location.
Opinions?
No, it's not tied to the lantern pole. It's between two trees adjacent to the campsite.
Not meaning to be judgemental, just wonder about the stability of that post for the hanging weight based on my inexperience in hanging. I've spent a few nights on camping pads like that and am familiar with the posts.
Look closer at the pic and you can see the straps around a tree. The hammock is actually just off of the campsite.
There is still room for a tent on the actual tent pad. Next time my brothers and I go there, I'm in the HH!
