    PLUQ question

I have the materials on the way for a no sew PLUQ. I just saw the instructions for the sew up version on another thread and how you could add extra insulation between the layers. I was wondering, with the no sew version, could you essentially do the same thing by just slipping some insultex in between on colder trips. It would be great to have a little more versatility out of one UQ instead buying another underquilt.

Was thinking of buying enough insultex to double over in the UQ, but have read that there should be a slight gap in between layers. Would it still work or would i be wasting money?

comments, concerns, and experience on this would be great

Without sewing you may have a problem keeping the middle layer in place, it will tend to bunch up.

I've done just that. 4 safety pins and it worked great...

Yeah, I figured it would have to be pinned. I wiggle too much at night for just about anything to stay put.

I know it is different for everyone, but are there any estimations on how cold you could go with this setup?

The lowest I've been in my no sew without any added insulation is about 60*. I was comfy and could have wnt lower but I am sort of a cold sleeper.

Before my sewn pluq, i had a folded piece of IX with a piece of batting on the inner side, added tieouts (tied knots on corners) to each 4 corners, and added to inner of folded pluq.... not sure how cold it could have gone, but I was warm at 50 degrees.
