If you could only own one hammock what would it be and why?

I posted a thread similar to this on a recumbent forum. Some people acted like I was asking them to tie their children to stakes and decide which ones to burn... The serious answers were very interesting and informative. When I was getting started buying a hammock I would have loved to have the kind information I think this thread will create.

For me I would keep my Warbonnet blackbird double layer. I love the extra space to lounge and move around compared to my bridge. I also love the storage shelf. Both the bridge and WBBB are wonderfully comfortable. I wish the JRB bridge had an integrated stuff sack in at least one end cap that allowed storing the hammock and an underguilt. While hanging it would be a great storage area so I don't get run over by water bottles, shoes, and a second sleeping bag I like to have inside. Two large storage end caps would be even better. They could call them bears ears. While I am dreaming about the ultimate bridge I think I would add another 6 inches of width to create a car camping monstrosity.

Tree to Tree Trial Gear 1.1 DL Light Hiker

    • Always comfortable
    • Bug net when needed & two ways to get it out of the way when not
    • Light weight (nice for backpacking)
    • Built like a tank
    • Backed by Dale

I've had a lot of hammocks, and this is my go-to for almost any trip.

For me, it would be a single layer 1.7 Traveler.

    - Simple, durable, compact.
    - Works fine for both summer lounging and winter camping.
    - Add a separate bug net when needed, don't have to carry it when it isn't necessary.
    - Comfortable. Same fabric bed as a BB.

I have hundreds of nights in the one I have. Hundreds more to come.

my personal preference is Wilderness Logics Lite Owl.

    ... doub layer 1.1
    ... 11' length, srl at 108"
    ... very comfortable/flat lay
    ... stylish coyote ripstop
... made local to me (in Thomasville NC)
... no bug net attached so insulation can be more easily adjusted
... it makes a comfortable lounge chair too.

    My WBBB 1.1 DL because...
    • It is incredibly comfortable, has lots of room, and I can easily get a flat lay
    • In my neck of the woods (central FL) I need bug netting year around
    • I love the shelf... a lot
    • Quick and easy set up

Having said that... I refuse to only have one hammock!

My other hammock that I won't live without is my bignormous mayan hammock for sleeping in at home most of the year and on the back porch when the weather is right. Also, I love my DIY hammock for winter camping... and my new ENO DN that I am currently sleeping in every night (until I work out stand issues to hang my mayan in the house and sleep in it). And... and...
