I have really learned a lot already from this forum, aside from being entertained. I actually began considering a hammock after listening to our local EMA talking about emergency evacuation kits. I thought I'd look at one of the small rope hammocks to go in a supply bag, but one thing led to another....
Mosquitos were the first concern with a string hammock, then a checkered-patterned back... anyhow, I now own a Skeeter Beater and a Kelty footprint for a tarp that I learned about reading here. I have not yet spent a night in it (it's too hot), but am still learning how to efficiently set up. It is right nice to rest in, though. I just bought a second regular hammock on sale from Grand Trunk with the intention of adding a layer underneath, mainly to prevent mosquito bite-through. It should also be able to carry insulation up under the main hammock. You see how things got out of hand?
