I've been hunting for a square tarp. I want to go light so I think an 8x8 is what I'm looking for. But I can't find anyone who makes an 8x8. Does anyone know where I might find one?

Owareusa.com makes an 8'10" square. Only a bit larger than your stated desire.
I haven't looked recently but I thought the Jacks made one.

Zpacks makes an 8x8 and an 8.5x8.5. They're expensive.

The Tree to Tree Trail Gear Lighthiker diamond tarp is about as small as a tarp can get... I have one, but I don't know it's dimensions. It is excellent minimal coverage, and sets up well. I've been told that the design is a kind of airfoil shape that helps keep it down.

Might try Cooke Custom Sewing. Their Tundra Tarp is really nice, though 10x10 is their smallest listed size they are "Custom Sewing"
I'm guessing any of the cottage industry tarp manufacturers would make that size for you. Are you using it as a diamond?
Thank you all for the input and suggestions. I might expand the size I’m looking for to 9x9 because I think some of those are available.
Here’s why I’m interested in this size: I want to go lightweight because of various injuries (bad knees and I recently broke my collar bone in a mountain biking accident). The thought is I’d use it as a diamond over my hammock. The diagonal would be about 11 ft, I believe, so pretty good coverage for my DIY gathered end hammock or bridge hammock. I'm pretty much a fair weather guy so I'm not too concerned about blowing rain.
@ BER: I’ve looked at Oware and will check again. I didn’t notice the 8’10” square tarp. Thanks for the heads up!
@dragon360: I don’t think the Jacks make ‘em anymore. I see used ones from time to time for sale at HF but they go fast. Perhaps I should call JRB and ask if they’d make one.
@more: Thanks. Yes, it seems that everything Zpacks makes is expensive.
@MacEntyre: I was looking at that tarp from TTTG. I used to have a SB hammock so I know it would be a quality product. I love the size of that thing, but I’m looking for ground set ups too and don’t think that one would be good for pitching with trekking poles on the ground.
@Manchego: Thanks for the tip. I’ll check ‘em out.
@OMS: Yes, I would use the tarp as a diamond over my hammock and various configurations for trips where I would be on the ground. I might contact a few makers—just afraid of what they’d charge for custom work. I might go the DIY route.

Bear Paw tents will make you an 8x8 sil tarp. McCat would do the same I'm sure.
The oware tarp is the "flat tarp 2.5" midway down this page. I have the flat tarp 3.5. Excellent quality.
