Thumbs up First Group Hang - John Rock

Back from the piney woods and my first group hang. My wonderful husband helped me carry stuff up to the site, even though he didn't stay, and he came back on Sunday to get me and help carry things out. Is that a good man, or what! Thanks to Running Feather and Hanging Burrito for being such good hosts--I had a blast. Even though there was rain on and off, we managed to have a good time and big fires. I met a lot of fun people and saw some neat gear. Detail Man and Tweekies' kids are a pleasure. I hope they put up their "Life of a Centipede" video on the forum. That last wonderful brownie from Sluggy made it possible for me to get back to the parking lot with my pack. Looking forward to next year.

My pictures somehow got turned on their sides. Turn your monitors, because I don't know how to fix it once it is posted.

Had a fine time at Johns Rock too

It was a pleasure to meet you Granny Pat and glad the husband came in to help with the move back to the parking lot. I hope we can do it again, nice to meet such good folks too and even enjoyed the rain delays with the ladder ball games and Running Feathers special hanging chair demonstrations! I'll try to find someone that can put these on the HF easily. I can't get the I Pad to work properly. Have a good week coming up and best regards,

    Roger

Thanks for starting the ball rolling grannypat.

HB and I would like to thank everybody from the bottom of our hearts, for making this hang so much fun. We had rain - trust me. Everyone turned lemons into lemonade.

Sluggie has lottsa pics and Carolinbackpacker has a bunch of video. There is some video out there, that Lazybee has, I am trying to gather funds to prevent being posted, but it's to rich not to post In the immortal words of Shug, "If I'm fallin' someone better be filming!"

Thanks to HB and RF for hosting this hang!
Great people at a great location.
Despite the rain I had an awesome time. Met some good people, saw a lot of cool gear and got some good advice. Now I just have to figure out which diy project I'm gonna start first.
The hike in was nice. Uphill but short. Most of the way you could hear the moving water. ( from the creek or the sky. ). The trail had it's sloppy sections but overall wasn't too bad. When you reached camp the trail opened up into a good size pine grove with plenty of room for a group of hangers. Water was close by with many spots for resupply or a refreshing dip (but you'll have to ask the brave ones about that cooool dip ) HB and RF have a great hang spot there.

I hope to see everyone again, at another hang soon or this hang again next year.

We had a great time. It was a pleasure meeting and getting to know new friends. A big thanks to HB and RF for putting this hang together again, especially for toting all the extra gear and tarps to make a wet hang a fun hang for all. We'll get pics up later.
