Corn has been firing for almost 2 weeks now, and in some places along the highways and field lines you can see the outside exposed trees firing from the bottom up too.

It could be well into winter before we see any relief at all, and for many that's just too late.

    Sad

I do predict when the heat breaks substantially, that the trails will fill and the hammocks will roll. Lots of trips postponed this summer already.

The DNR has been telling everyone that fishing for some species has improved, due to fish concentrating in the few remaining deep holes. I'd rather think it's time to give them a break, while they are trying to find enough oxygen and food to live through the summer.

Looking forward to "Tonight: Cold. Low 3°. Snow, heavy at times accumulating 1 to 2 feet."

Just kidding...but not really. Fort Wayne is the PERFECT place to live if you hate snow. It always misses us to the North, South, East, and West...I can't win

Ok I'm on a tangent. Back on topic - I'm really looking forward to this meet and hope I can make it!

I know October is a long way off,,but,,with the leaves falling or having fallen, and the forcast for the next three month,,I just don't see them letting up on the fire bans as they are saying we need at least 4-6 inches over 2-3 days everywhere to begin to break this drought which has now been listed as the most sevear catagorie on the drought maps. But,,I am praying for it to rain.

I was surprised they lifted our ban in Allen County. It doesn't seem like we got that much rain lately, maybe 2" since the ban, depending on the location. Either way, I finally had a nice legal bonfire in my back yard for the first time this summer a few nights ago.

I have been dying to cook in my firepit outside,,but man,,they have been writing tickets in my county..its driving me alittle nuts not to cook over a fire. Guess I will have to leave the state this coming weekend to cook over a fire.

Did you ever think of this place if you want water? Google Crooked Creek Lake and open the photos. Just a thought.

We would have to walk past the lake and into the woods or hike up from the lake about 5 minutes up the hill to Miller Ridge to camp.
