Like where? I get the repeat thing. What about moving closer to the ruins. I think that was actually plan last year but the trail kinda vanished. But the current site is real nice for lots of bodies. (pun intended)

    I don't care! Wherever.
I do think it's fun to camp near a grave yard, so........

I'm OK with where we had the Hoosier Hang a few years ago. AND I still want to see Stone Henge.

Maybe by the cemetery the first night, then move to the ruins Saturday night?

I am always game for new places, being mostly unfamiliar with the area the more of it I can see the better!

I know we were kicking around a hike to Jones Hollow, at some point. Haven't been there in years, but there were trees there. It's basically a right turn and a little north of the cemetery.

Terrel Ridge isn't my favorite place in the Deam for sure, but probably one of the easiest hikes and least challenging to find.

Just throwing it out, but the campsite on top of Patton Cave would be a great hang anytime. Not as spooky as the Hill, but pretty good views, and a large established site, access to the lake.

I like all your ideas and actually don't really care that much. I mainly just want to see everyone. I like Farmer John's comment that we don't stay there for both days, AND I like rolloff's idea about hiking to Jones Hollow, at least for a day hike. I am not trying to be a #$&$# here, but Terrell Pond and the area around there is just not wilderness. If we stay there, no harder to get to than to follow a two track mostly, we could just as easily stay in a camp ground with facilities and have a good time either way. Or we could actually hike to somewhere that isn't so easy to get to, and that has it's drawbacks too.
I am just glad we are discussing it even if we still stay near the cemetery. But just my two cents is that I don't feel I am backpacking or wilderness camping at Terrell Pond and the Cemetery.
I like the ideas that makes the weekend more than just hanging in one place for two days. We sometimes do just that in Brown Hollow when it's raining or something but at least we are in an out of the way spot.
You all could just say we are doing as planned and I would be there, but if others do feel it's a lame spot at least for two days, maybe we should supplement the plan a bit.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.

I am with Mule on this one. Right now I'm coming in Thurs before noon sometime, and should Termite not show, for a ride back to Indy, I might have to hang out until Tuesday sometime, when my ride can make it back.

Terrel Ridge is not wilderness, by any means. A couple days would be more than all I'd need of it. I'd probably beg someone to drop me off at the Patton Cave TH on Sat or Sun, on their way out for sure.

Things could still get botched up for me. Kind of depends on how my wife's sister comes through surgery. If it's bad news, that would be worse than missing another hang, so I don't want to be the "Driving Force" behind this.

I do think a fair number of us might prefer a "better" hiking experience, than the original site, would provide, and leave it at that.

My crew is hiking in late Thursday so the cemetery site is very appealing for Thursday night atleast. however after that i vote for Jones hollow or Patton cave site. Haven't seen either of those. Might reduce the amount of water to carry in.

And just for giggles I'm probably gonna do the sycamore on Friday just to give the legs a strech. Who's in?

Well hey, it can all be one part of the Hang. Just because it's one event on the calendar doesn't mean we all have to do one thing. Think of it more as an HF take-over of the Deam. That way, the people who can't sit still for two seconds can do their thing, and others who just want to set up camp and chill out can do theirs. I'm sure over four days, there will be plenty of crossover of the groups.

For the record, unless the weather is absolutely atrocious, I think I'll do quite a bit of moving about, at least during the day.

Is Patton cave the one at where saddle creek dumps into Monroe? That is a pretty neat little cave. I'd be in for that as well. It is not much farther then hiking to Terrell ridge/pond, plus there is ample parking at the horse camp.

I do not recall any "great" spots for a group to hang around the cave though. There is a largish pine grove on the ridge/hill top directly above (east) of the cave, or west of the peninsula trail once it climbs back up the ridge out of the stream bed. That is a pretty nice area, but you will likely get a lot of horse traffic if you hang right of the trail. Also depending on how much it rains between now and then, the water right around where Saddle creek dumps in can be pretty murky/mucky, depending on how you like your water to taste; you/we may need to walk north up the bank a ways to get “cleaner” water.

@ Rolloff I am still planning on being there, the only issue is that I must come back on Saturday (evening probably) because it is my daughters birthday on Sunday, that is the only part set in stone. Other wise it is dependant on whether I find a job between now and then, but I am planning on going on Thursday, I probably will not know 100% until the week of. If I do find something between now and then, I will be at least making a day trip to the area, just to hang out if nothing else so you will still have a ride back, assuming you do not mind coming back Saturday evening.
