Family camping and a scouting trip.

So this weekend has been quite busy. Packing on Thursday and Friday. To unpack and setup on Friday evening. Then Saturday morning taking the scouts on a short backpacking trip for an overnight. Then a week of family camping. I am doing this on my phone so there will more of an In depth report later when I get back. But take a look at a Couple of pics. Looks like an awesome camp spot! Also love the Zen thing with the rock cairns.

Great pics! I'm glad your having fun. I look forward to seeing more pics and hopefully a vid. What do the scouts think of hammocking? Did any of them try it?

Oper8or most of our scout sleep in hammocks. On that hike there were only two that didn't. I even had a boy (who was in the rock cairn pic) who was givin a hennessey safari slept with his dad in the safari. They put the 350 rating to the challenge. Dad's a big boy.
Other then that my boys have slept in the triple hammock stand for 4 nights. Without any problems. When camping with the same group for the last 10 years I have always come
back with something new. Last year was the "camp kitchen". The wooden structure in one of the pics. This year it is the hammock stand. I have actually had people give other people tours of my camp site. Lol

Curious with the hammock stand, what are you using for stakes for the verticals? Rebars?

Manchego, yes I used 2' rebar on all stakes. The ground here is hard packed and stoney so I needed something strong to go through. I have tried to used 12" gutter spikes but I did not have success with their holding power. So I upgraded. For the most part with the boys I have found that two rebar per pole works. But I would add a third if there is more weight on a single pole then the others. I also have amsteel as all the guy lines. You can play a tune on most of them. Lol all this has worked so far.
