Kelty Noah 12 Stretch?

I've had a Noah tarp for years and it does not stretch like Silconized Nylon when it gets wet because it is DWR Poly. So tensioners are optional. But sil is so much lighter and squishes up very small thus why so many upgrade to it later. You'll love your Noah Tarp and Kelty is a good company that stands behind their products.

Those of you using the Kelty! I've been thinking of buying a Kelty tarp. The negative comments that I've seen have been that it is designed to protect from the sun and not rain. Apparently rain seeps through. Have you any input on repelling rain?

As I understood that bad review it was from a fellow who tried one of their "sunshades" (and yes they are a whole different ballgame) not an actual Noah Tarp. I've been in downpours and even a snow storm on Roan Mt once with mine with abs NO problems. Oh yeah and they are seam sealed very well too.

I have live under my Noah 12 for 2 years and have never gotten wet, nor have I experienced seepage. I picked it up for $35 + $7 S&H from www.theclymb.com but you need an invite to join so let me know and I will send you one. Currently they are not offering one but they rotate through gear all the time. You might find all sorts of stuff you might want tho!

Thanks L.D. and I'm glad to hear that it works as I was about to pull the trigger on a new tarp. Which one is still up in the air. I wonder why the review ended up under the tarp?

The first year I used my Noah Tarp with a hammock I was going to the Nantahala a lot and we would usually stay at Tsali Campground or Turkey Creek. If you've never been there prepare to camp under water. There's something about that gorge IT ALWAYS RAINS THERE, even when it doesn't rain anywhere else!
Last time I used it I pitched my 9 and went low, taking the points all the way to the ground. I also tie ribbons of Sham Wow cloth to my whoopies and place them right under the tarp to stop any seepage down my suspension. I was dry as a bone when everyone else was wet & mud splattered, especially the guys in the tents!

I still take it and put it over the picnic table with the separate tarp poles they sell separately when we go there, and it's saved us twice now from the rains.
