Place to Hang off I-80 near State College, PA

I need some car-camping site recommendations. I'll be driving from IN to CT and may decide to stop halfway for an overnighter. Here's basically what I'm looking for:

    1. Immediately off I-80. Not looking to drive more than 5 miles off the highway. Trying to stop around the State College area.
    2. A place to hang right by where I park my car.
    3. Would be nice to have some kind of view and a firepit.

    Suggestions?

Bellefonte/State College KOA is 2 miles off 80. If you google campgrounds in State College, it pulls up a listing of the nearby ones. This one seems the closest to what you are specifying. Never been there.

place to hang off rt 80

Get off at exit 220 south. turn left (north) and follow the signs to bald eagle state park. It's about 3 miles. Find somewhere to pull over and have at it.

I hear there is a statue near a stadium that some students are wanting to protect. Perhaps an all nighter on Paterno's elbow is in the future, although it could get troublesome (as if it isn't already) there.
Happy Trails to one and all.

Fantastic suggestion, Bob Mac! It's placed perfectly between my start and end points. Do you have any suggestions for places to park/hang in the park? I checked the pricing for the park and I'm a little confused. Is there a way I can park for free, hike in a mile or so and hang for free?
