What are your suggestions? Any manufacturers out there willing to cut us a break on cost for a large number?

Ideally we'd get four of them and have one of our leader teams take them out ASAP to test them, ordering the other 44 when we are sure that that brand will work well with our hennessy hammocks (zip style).

Thank you in advance for your suggestions and help.

Have you considered the Hennessey Super Shelter for your bottom insulation? It should easily meet your requirement with the addition of an inexpensive mylar space blanket. As for your top insulation, I suspect that you already have sleeping bags since you said you already had tents. Those could easily be used as top quilts just by unzipping the bag partially and laying it over you.

The other issue you have is the size of your potential order. Having 48 (4 + 44 ) orders to fill is going to tax the production capabilities of the hammock cottage vendors here. Most items are made to order.

    Cheers

Awesome organization (and budget) you have there. The kids must really enjoy it.

Have you thought about spreading the wealth, sharing the love? If you eventually plan to purchase 300 underquilts, then you could start out field testing quilts (synthetic and down) for the four leaders from different vendors, then hone in on your favorites before bulk purchasing 40 and then 300 underquilts.

The temps you describe suggest no more than a 20 degree UQ. I think the kids would love it if you had a variety of UQs for them to try out.

This might also allow you to establish relationships with multiple vendors before making the larger purchases. Just a thought.

Just a thought. ENO is about to launch a line of top quilts and under quilts. Try giving them a call to see when you could get a few and maybe see about a discount.

As I was reading all the posts,,was just going to recommend the same,,for those kids,,most of them would only need a 3/4 Jarbridge UQ for sure,,my wife is 5'2" and it covers her nicely with her head on a pillow. She complains all the time how hot she gets...and the New River could be used for the big people for a UQ..and they are synthetic as well,,Paul...go for it.

Good luck to you, I'm sure Paul will do his best at AHE to help you. And the Poncho Liner suggestion is a good one too. I just made an UQ out of one & it works well for the summer. Please let us know how it all turns out!

Or even better, post pics and vids. I'm sure we would all get a huge kick out of seeing that many people hanging at one time.
