a lot to learn from TN

I have a lot to learn. What hammock, suspension system?, tarp, insulation, & etc I wish to have?
I am a beginner @ the age of "ssshhhh!"; not telling. I will get better with age; age is your friend; experience is even better - yeah Right! Let's say I am an old hippie who wants to enjoy an ease into retirement and a quick start out of the gate of the coming age.
I reside in Tennessee, enjoy things like country music to symphony/etc, good food cooked with a small amount of ash in it or a bannock twist.
I will remain a lurker for the most part, reading the posts of more knowledgeable members, if time permits I hope to get out some hangs.
I bid everyone a good evening on this wet Thursday lightning filled night.

Greetings from Nashville. A great way to learn about what you might want in a hammock is to lay in one or two or ten. I've learned a lot from this site and from some of the folks who hang in our area.

No question you are at the right place to learn everything there is about hammocking. I've sure learned a lot in the past year and a half. Welcome!

Welcome Patke! Hang around here a while, and get some gear and start practicing set up, and you will soon be an expert. Because of all the volumes people like me for some reason like to write about this stuff, it is really not all that complicated. It also doesn't make all that much difference which gear you choose ( IMHO ). Folks have their favorites, but the truth is just about any gear from any of the vendors here will keep you real comfy compared to the hard, sloping ground. And sense you might not be on a pad, which is virtually automatic on the ground, you will have to keep your backside warm. Either with a pad or some form of quilt or pod.

    Have fun!
