Absolutly Another certified SWR paddler is always welcome! I think about 3 are already coming from my group, including me.

Got Links showing the rapids etc for this section?
Here's a link from American Whitewater. We will only be running from Barnard to Stackhouse but it is an all day paddle.

Now I remember running that section... Sat awestruck at the bottom of Frank Bells Rapid for quite sometime - a natural 'ampitheatre' formation looking upstream from that perspective (with a difficult "orchestra-pit" at the bottom )

Thanks for that Link. Although, unless "SWR" means "Senior Whitewater Runner", I probably am not certified, though definitely certifiable...

It can mean certifiable too! Half of us WW paddlers ARE!!
We will be getting off the river 4 miles upstream of Kayaker's Ledge & Frank Bells so no carnage. Although...there is The Big Pillow

    Reeeeely looking forward to this!
Also @ dakota--- The reservation chick at Hot Springs said 407 can hold 4 campers without any additional charge.

They emailed me back to say that 407 is not "hammock compatible" and offered 557 which they said is the biggest in the campground. On the map its way on the other end from 413. Can't tell if it would be a big deal or not, any advice on that? (is it far away or not too bad?)

PM me if you're interested in sharing this waterfront property.
Doodad and I will take #409 with you. He might make Thursday, I probably won't until late Friday, possibly Sat a.m.

Welcome to site 409 dakotaross and Doodad!

Look forward to meeting you both,...there,...then!

PS: If you arrive before me - Save me a good spot!

Site 409 is now booked. I believe Hanging Burrito and Running Feather still have some open trees on the main site!

The "certifiable" comment is funny. Reminds me of something one of the Olympic athletes said to me when we were doing the preliminary practices runs. It was the first time they had seen the course in TN and they were pretty much in awe of it. It was far longer than most of them were used to and it was heavily loaded toward the end with difficult gates and rapids. I remember striking up a conversation with one of them while they were looking over the course and I complemented them on their last run. I said, "Man, I think you have to be crazy to paddle water like this but it looks like fun and I'd like to learn about it one day." He gave me a funny look and said, "Well, I think you are crazy to swim in it but I am grateful you are willing to come get me if I cant get out on my own." That made me feel good. I guess we are all certifiable in some way or another. I am looking forward to finding out just how y'all measure up on the Certifiable Scale when I meet you. I hope you all get high scores- more fun that way.
