Tobit is back, need a new hammock. Ideas?

Hi folks, long time no see. I am somewhat back to lurking and getting a new hammock. My health is improving, weight is dropping, and I've been on a few outings this year but sleeping on the ground. I need to get back in the trees.

My last hammock was a WBBB 1.7 DBL layer. Is there anything new in the past year and a half I should also consider? With my recent, and continuing, weight loss, I'd like to go with a single layer hammock of some kind.

The DangerBirds from PapaSmurf are looking really nice but he has quite a back log of orders at the moment and he's getting ready to close for a week.

    Thanks

Just ordered a BIAS Weight Weenie kit with knotty mod and ridgeline to play with. Wanted to keep the costs down a bit.

    Welcome back

The Switchback hammock from Tree To Trail Gear is an option that has a loyal following here. Available in single and dual layer.

The latest craze/trend has been the DIY tablecloth hammocks (polyester crinkle taffeta) with a blank from http://tableclothsfactory.com

    Cheers

I think you will like the BIAS Weight Weenie. The recent trend is to go loooooong
I'm using only 11' hammocks these days - super comfy.

Yeah, I love the price so I am hoping it works. I am over the recommended weight specs though so we'll see. Often these are not accurate so I am hoping the 28 extra pounds will not be too much of an issue. More incentive to keep up with the weight loss I guess.

I still have my first hammock, an old DD Travel, in the closet I could upgrade the suspension on. I just never liked the bug net configuration.

Thanks Bob, I see you are also using their TQ and UQ's? These are on my short list for new quilts.

Welcome back! I just got my DangerBird 72 and it's tops! Gonna be my main hang for years to come. I'd suggest it might be worth the wait.

Of the hammocks I've bought and built, it is a big jump more comfortable, and I thought my DIY was going to be hard to beat. It's going back to the sewing table now that it's been bested. When I get time... With DB72, I've no need to rush.

Let us know what you get.
