    Please Identify this Knot

I've seen loops tied with this knot and then those loops used to tie prusik knots (as in the link below), but I cannot figure out how to tie that first loop knot.

Am I confusing anyone? Basically what I am asking is: what is the knot in this link that is NOT the prusik knot.

    Help is appreciated!

I think it's a double or triple fishermans knot slid together but it's. hard to tell without seeing the back side of the knot.

That indeed would be the double fishermans knot. It's a standard knot used in this application by climbers, for whome the prusics would be used by. The two knots go hand in hand and climbers would use both for all sorts of applications.

I made my prusiks for my tarp ridgeline by following both of those animations from that site. Works great.

We used them when I climbed. Ties lines together very well. Easy to tie, less so to undo.

One can also tie webbing loops far easier than sewing it. Sewing it only makes the webbing slightly less weak than knots. For the hassle I tie mine.

    Aw, now, that's cheating

Honestly, I've made loops that have functioned fine with a couple different types of knots. A granny won't work, but about anything else will. I typically have used a quick overhand knot as an expedient, and put that knot near the end.
