Welcome Lucas - congrats on the purchase!

I've got bad back issues too, and found that the hammock is the best place for sleeping especially on the trail. I've had some issues, either getting used to the different style of sleeping or possibly due to a bad hang, where I've woken up with some pinched nerves that have made my feet feel dead for a little more than a day, but I solved that with a ThermaRest.
A lot of the folks here say "no pads", but if you've got back issues, listen to your body, not someone's opinion. Also, don't get frustrated with the trial/error aspect of defining for YOU what the purfect hang is. there's a LOT of useful info here - play with it and see what works best for - and always, good luck!

Welcome from NH, I too have a bad back and sleeping in the hammock has proven to be much better than on the ground.

Welcome from Texas, Lucas. Seems like a lot of folks here find relief from back pain when they move from a tent to a hammock, so I think you're on the right track.

    best,

Welcome to the forums! I also have back issues that I have to be sure to take care of and the hammock for at least an afternoon hang was the most comfortable I've felt in a long time!
