I know there are som KY hangers here so I was wanting to know if anyone can give me info on a place the wife & I could get in a quiet hang & maybe hear an elk bugle. Jennifer has always wanted to hear them in the wild. I would like to hear & see them if possible.

I know they are very plentiful around the Pine Mountain area in Whitley Co. The Cumberland Gap would be a good place also.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but there's a group of them on the Buffalo River in Arkansas to.
I didn't realize there was such a large and widespread population in Kentucky. I think there are only about 500 in Arkansas, but they are concentrated in just a few areas.

They have gotten to the point that they are causing a lot of wrecks in the eastern part of the state. I have heard that since their introduction into Kentucky their population has exploded. People have reported seeing them in the Red River Gorge, but I have never seen one. I do see a lot of deer in the RRG.

I don't know if there's camping near their area, but there are elk in Land Between the Lakes. Backcountry camping is allowed just about anywhere in LBL and there may be spots near enough to the elk and bison prairie.
