I've used the 1.75mm Zing-It with their small plastic figure-9s. It was a close fit so I doubled up with another pass thru the teeth (although only the first pass really held tight). I now use 2.0mm cord from Exped which is about the same with no issues.

have used it with 2.2mm zing-it as a CRL for a tarp and if you put in a slipped half-hitch after you wrap the figure 9 it'll hold just fine. (using a small metal fig.9) may not need the half-hitch with the plastic ones? or on guy outlines?

A second pass around the horn before you lock it is free insurance.

I always put a half hitch on the end of the remaining line in order to keep slack from being introduced to the hook with the teeth. It also looks nicer and keeps line from hanging unorganized.

    Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for the reponses. It gives me a good piece of mind knowing it will hold the 1.75 Zing-it. I think that 2nd wrap around is good advice just for reassurances.

Will the larger Figure 9 work with Amsteel, or is it too slippery? I'm wonderin if it will hold, and if the teeth with damage Amsteel.

Great question, I dug out my larger Figure 9 and tested it - it doesn't want to hold, at 40 pounds it starts to side. No damage to the Amsteel that I could see or feel. Hope that helps!

I have noticed that using Amsteel with a Figure 9 repeatedly will fray the amsteel. but it will slip as well, which is why it needs a half hitch on the line.

But yea.. it'll eat into the amsteel if it's put on the same area over and over under load.
