    The Goat - Hammock/Tent

Check this out - it's a tent that you can lay on top of like a hammock or a cot. Doesn't look all that comfortable for sleeping in and it's too heavy for backpacking, but may be good for car camping and you don't need any trees. Interesting concept, at least.

I see a number of things I would do different, but the covered storage at both ends would be handy. They would be more accessible if they lifted up rather than having to reach in from under the hammock as it looks like you would need to do.

I still think there is going to be a fairly weight weight hammock stand for car camping that can set up with ease & then the tarp & hammock added in a matter of minutes, holding the tarp up high enough to walk under if you wanted.

that looks a lot like those "portable hammocks" I have seen.

This one in particular looks to be pretty much the same. Just add the portions at the ends and you have what appears to be the same thing.

I wouldn't want to carry it, but for car camping it would be an interesting concept.

when we were staying in a campground in hood river, oregon, our neighbors had one of those (hammock only) set up outside their rv. when they left one day, i went over and hopped in for a second to see how it laid. i was not impressed.

Are you talking about the one that Jeff linked or the one TeeDee linked?
I tried one like Teedee linked & I didn't think it was at all comfortable.

Yep, very tight & rigid like a cot rather than flexible & conforming like a hammock.
