    River Monsters - Animal Planet

Has anyone been watching the River Monsters show on Animal Planet? I just watched the season finale (from May). It was an episode where our hero, Jeremy Wade, goes on an expedition to find monster fish in "the isolated and untouched jungles of Guyana, South America", with some guides that he meets there.

It looks like he's possibly got two hammocks, one plaid and one Hennessy type (bugnet included), that he takes with him on the expedition. Or maybe it's just his quilt that is plaid.

Anyway, if you get a chance to see this one, it's called LAIR OF GIANTS (Special). He sure looks like he sleeps comfy while working hard to find the fish. At least we know he slept and ate well. It's a fun show to watch.

I did catch that episode. I thought it was just a plaid hammock, but I could be wrong. It was really cool to see him string that up for a snooze after a long day of hiking and fishing.

I watched an episode last night where he was in Suriname and all the locals were hanging in hammocks. It appeared to be just a fact of life for them. I remember thinking to myself that's what I'd be doing down there in the jungle, no doubt about it.

    Great show, by the way.

In Guyana, it's the Essequibo River. One of the last remote stretches of water left in the world. The best show of the season IMO. They haul true dug-outs over falls, and portage them roller style, on logs, around rapids. 200 miles upstream from the last inhabited village, to a secluded lake.

The hammocks and adventure getting there, make the last 5 mins of actual "Monster" fishing, a secondary aspect of the show.

Might have been the episode where he was "noodling" for catfish...

    never mind, that was Oklahoma.

Finally, in Oklahoma, Wade tries his hand at noodling — catching fish by hand — for the first time, in his ongoing quest for enormous catfish. He helps two expert noodlers as they compete in a noodling competition, and engages in the dangerous task first-hand.

@NCPatrick I have noticed that in a lot of the shows on discovery and animal planet you're seeing with greater frequency more hammocks. Perhaps some of the sleeping like a banana stigma is wearing off.
