Now we're out. Seems the consensus here that this weekends weather is going to be perfect to head down to our cottage and play on the river. Have fun gang!!

We had roof repairs and a lot of clean up from a storm that had gone through since the last time we'd been down to the McConnelsville area, and more to do . How did your guy's trip turn out??

    Stone Church

Met up with Luke and after some gathering of important provisions we headed out to the trail. We arrived to find Rob and his dog Baxter waiting for us. The campsite is a good sized manicured area surrounded with plenty of good hanging trees. This ended up a car camp with dayhiking. We went for a short hike out to the pond and back before we got setup. Baxter spotted something interesting on the trail, a 5 foot+ black snake that ended up charging me and Luke on the way back. If only we had that on film. After a cool down, plenty of water, and some dinner we had a nice fire, a few nips, and some good sleep. The low was 58f. Luke headed out early and Saturday was looking like it was gonna be a hot one so me and Rob hiked up the road to see the stone church ruins. We picked up a trail close by and had a good early hike. I can't say enough about these Stoic 150 Merino wool crews. I sweat alot on both hikes and was always dry within the hour and no stank. After the hike the heat just took the wind out of our sails and we just lounged and napped the rest of the afternoon away. Baxter is a great hammock buddy and not shy about occupying a perfectly good lap. Great dog! We gathered some firewood and had dinner for a repeat of friday nights activities and slept great again. The low was 57f. Had a great couple days!

Yeah there was a very clean Porta John too! Just gotta bring yer own water. There is a gas station a mile or so up the road that is a mini grocer too. It is a great spot to car camp and dayhike.

Can you "backcountry" camp anywhere in the area like you can at Wildcat Hollow?

Can you filter the water and if so how far is the hike to get to it.

How far is the total hike?

I'm not sure if this info is earlier in the thread or not.
