    A hang with no trees

This weekend I'll be volunteering my time at the Solberg Balloon Festival in NJ. The best part is, I get to camp out at the Airport. I was debating on whether to go to ground with my two man tent as there will be no trees to hang my hammock on, and I haven't been working much on my Turtle Lady Stand. I figure if I bust my backside a little tonight I should have it ready to go. So the goal is a two night hang with no trees. My planned setup:

    Turtle Lady Hammock Stand
GT Ultralite Setup I trade for from G.L.P
    DIY Bug Net from lymphocytosis
    DIY Slug Tubes from raiffnuke
DIY Ridge Line Organizer from Steve D
    8 x 10 HF Tarp

Good thing I'm car campingI'd hate to try hiking with all this This should be a blast. I want to thank everyone that either traded, PIF'd or sold me gear. It's about to get tested and displayed at a very large outing. I'll try and get some photos of the whole setup posted once the weekend is over. Might even try a video.

That sounds like it will be a blast. Enjoy, and convert some folks.

Sounds great! Let us know how everything worked for you. I have been thinking about a making a TurtleDog Stand myself just for that reason...hanging with no trees.

Maybe you could get the event to suspend your hammock from a couple small anchored balloons! lol all kidding aside, that would look pretty sweet in a pic.

You could also use some poles. I have done that at a scout camporee. Here are some photos of random things I have done.

Hope these help. All the free standing ones were anchored with 2-2.5 ft rebar and amsteel.

Those aren't random things Nighthauk! Those are hammock things!

I like that group setup. I bet you get a bunch of looks at the campsites with that setup.

I really like that three hammock set up Nighthauk. Any issue with the stakes pulling out?

Thanks guys. I did not have too many problems with the stakes. For the most part with the 2' rebar they held pretty well. I only had two per side which worked well but because it had washed out last year with hurricane Irene one stake dragged a little. For that side I added one more regular plastic stake and I had no more problems.
As to the looks I get those alot. With all that I do with that campsite I found out there have been tours of our site when we weren't there. I laughed when I found that out.

So I got the Turtle Stand done this morning. Setup in the wind, not an easy thing to do. I'll see if I can post pics tonight
