Yea thanks. You've been a great help in my first modification job.
"Every day above ground is a good day"
So I just broke my ego. I had everything set up straight and aligned, but I still ended up on the ground. I am thinking of moving to the buckles.
I have always tested my hammock by leaning on it with both hands and then sitting on it and bouncing about an inch. I have done this long before the ring buckle and just continued after I started using them. I have found that if the rings are going to slip (which they haven't for a long time now that I have the holding knot down right and I'm careful in set up), they will when I lean on the hammock with both hands to test. This method did save my ego and much more at the beginning and whenever I test something new.
I am going to tie a not next time. I actually had gotten in and out of it three times before it dropped me.
yep, the slip knot is a sure fix. quick & simple... both to tie & untie.

Jeff, I know this is an old thread, but I was looking for info on making my own straps as a first project. I figured that would be as easy as anyhing. I liked the idea for your ring buckle supports. I may try making something similar, but I'm thinking about running the same type of webbing thru the ends of my ENO hammock, adding the rings as you instructed and sewing in place. Then the straps will each have a loop at each end like yours, then run the straps through the rings and adjust. Do you think something like this would work?

I can't see why that wouldn't work.
I'm going to try it as soon as I get a machine with which to sew, since I don't have one just yet. I bid on a couple on ebay, but keep getting outbid and I REALLY don't want to get one from Cheap-Mart.
