well...... this was quite the read. I've started my conversion to rings although REI only had 3, I can wait. One side is done and seems to work well. I realize most of you are on the Whoopie slings but I think rings are just great!!!

Now for a good nights sleep, after finishing this whole thread I may need to go for a hike just to let my eyes rest.

I only have rings on one end- but te hammock is symetrical, so which ever end is slightly higher becomes the foot end. YMMV, KM

I made my own "ring buckles" out of four links of chain that I had lying around. I tested them and they work great! Of course they're made of steel instead of aluminum, but to me (just me) I can handle the extra weight.

i'm about to try this setup and was wondering what do people think about using dutch clips like the ones on the hammock forums shop instead of carabiners on the tree side of the suspention. i think this would save weight and be even easier.

    Hello fellow hangers.

I have a quick question... i hope it hasn't been asked before, but latley I have very little time to browse the ever growing forum and threads.

Ive been wanting to improve my Ringbuckle suspension, and for this i know I either need a dutch clips or biners. I found a store that here in Bogota that is offering a pair of these http://www.madrockclimbing.com/ultra-lightbent.aspx for 32,000 colpesos (aprox 15 us dollars). I guess the price is fair, but Im wondering about the quality and if they would work for the ringbuckle suspension as i.e. the Metolius biners that our friends at Arrowhead Equipment offer and show on their photos ( http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com/a...s/show/1031027 ).

If i could I would just buy those Metolius biners from Arrowhead equipment or any other alikes by the internet (or the Dutch clips for that matter!) but i no longer have a credit card and these Mad Rock biners are the closest ive come to those metolius here in bogota so i dont want to miss the opportunity.

As always any input is appreciated.

I use these very similar biners on my straps.

I see no reason those would not work well but the $15 price is a bit steep. You might find a source that can take paypal drafts from your bank account?
