Yeah. You could change the distance between the tips of the dart to make it flatter or steeper (more like a circus tent).

I should do that just to blow people's minds. I do weird stuff all the time at our family weeklong camp out.

Or you could just buy one...

This is what Gumbo and I use to put over two hammocks side-by-side with lots of room. At 12x14 I call it the B.A.T. tarp - which stands for Big A$$ Tarp. We are pretty happy with it. Check it out. YMMV, etc.

Shop around you may find it cheaper.
    Good luck.

Hey take a look a the Kelty Noah tarp 12X12. its around $69 at REI. You might get away with using 2 of them and not have to sew anything. All depends on how you rig it. When not using as a tarp you can sail the 7 seas. Just took a look at the Kelty site and they also have a 16x16 as well weighs about 4lbs.

    try this:
    http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/Tents/...-supertarp.jsp
this tarp is HUGE and light. I bought this, not realizing how big it is, have actually thought about getting it cut inhalf to make two tarps but can't quite bring myself to do it. When I do use it (car camping ONLY) I usually wind up folding it in half. Have I mentioned that it is HUGE? I'm sure REI (your version of MEC) has something similar...
