Or just to use some very colorful words?
This project won't be started until the winter anyways. But just researching ideas now. I have other injection project to do first.

No worries. Maybe we can work on some of the details the next time we get together to simplify your winter project. My offer for assistance is open anytime.

I believe it was Bluenose Climbers on here that made the huge geodesic dome hammock hanger, and they used blue poly tarps that they taped together. You might consider using the 3M VHB tape.

Well that's a biiiiig tarp alright. First thought is don't use sil, use this coated 70D that Scott sells. It's currently $2.95/yd. It's heavier, but not terrible.

But still you're talking at the widest point about at least 16'. That's a little more than three widths @60". (IIRC, it came in about 64" when I bought some last. That would cover the width in 3 widths. I'd email Scott about it.)

You could do it with a little adjustment with 16 yards of this fabric @$3, about $50.

And a lot of sewing! HA!

This is a rough sketch of what you have. See your triangle and the rough shape of your tarp overlayed with three vertical strips, representing three widths of 60" fabric.

If you make some minor adjustments to your overall shape you can get this with three widths. 16 yards.

BTW, I hope you're planning a center pole or something to shed water...

The more I think about it I think I'd just make three tarps. Then you'd have them for solo trips anyway. Use all three in porch mode facing the center if you want a "living room" feeling. And you could have a fire in the middle.

Or knock this thing out of one big 16x16 blue poly tarp...

Thanks guys for the input. The concept of using the polyester was also something I was thinking of. I am not into the blue tarps very much.
As to the center pole that is already been thought of. I knew with this much space it would collect and pool all the water. As to using three tarps we did do that but the problem is how to configure them all without having problems with run off. I also want to have the full size tarp because we spend a week at that location and I would like to have all the boys stuff under there without worry of water.
As to the boys doing it... Yeah right. Not interested. Beside I would be practicing on all their stuff first so that I can perfect my skills for mine. Lol.

So I was drawing this while you posted that you're not hot on using blue tarps, but I had already drawn it when I read that, so I'll post it anyways.

The idea with the dart would be that it'd give you lots more headroom and the cat cuts would help with the slack. They wouldn't have to be very deep at all, only a few inches.
