    nacra whoopie?

I have read a lot on this site and haven't seen this...but my apologies if someone has mentioned this already. is it a good idea to put a nacrabiner on a whoopie sling instead of a fixed loop? I have a pic of it in the gallery...idk how to attach to this post. thanks for your input in advance!

    Why no answer?

Hey there...just wondering why nobody has any comments on the feasibility of using a nacrabiner at the end of a whoopie sling instead of a fixed loop? I am just looking for input...and like I said, if this has been addressed I apologize and maybe somebody could point me in the right direction?

Thanks! I am looking forward to a lot of fun on this site!

This is an interesting idea to be sure. I have not considered it because I just larks head my fixed loop on to my hammock.
Does your set up require the "nacra-whoopie?"

This was my thoughts on the matter too. Since the whoopie sling is a finite length, it takes 2 seconds to larks head it to your hammock. What benefit do you get by configuring your whoopie sling in the manner that you showed in your gallery photos?

    Cheers

i maybe incorrect here but i believe that a nacrabiner is a stand alone fastener to join 2 other loops together (like a soft shackle or a carabiner).
creating a nacrabiner or soft shackle to replace the fixed loop at the end of a whoopie sling would be difficult.
IMHO the practicality of a nacra/whoopie is beyond my limited knowledge.
here is a thread that compares nacrabiners and soft shackles.

here is a photo of how my whoopie sling attaches to the "dog bone" which is larks headed to my hammock.
a nacrabiner could replace the Dutch biner.

i hope this was somewhat helpful.

well...no my setup doesn't require it. I was just messing around with whoopie slings and nacrabiners and thought "why not make them together and maybe add versatility to the whoopie slings?" I agree after seeing the responses...probably no real value to it. thanks for the input!

hey bowl maker,i have incorporated nacra like and soft shackle conections into allmost every conceivable part of my hammock and tarp suspension and lines. tarp tie outs, guy lines, ridge lines(tarp and structual hammock),and whoopies(but in the adjustable loop side)i have had fun tieing and experimenting with all of them even though sometimes it turned out my upgrade was not as good as i at first thought and i quit useing it.some i have kept and use often.my favorite is the openable whoopie.(now with the half length space saver second knot attachment point.)
so if it sounds good to you do it.have fun with it.
