    Upgrading from Hennessy?

So I have a Hennessy Explorer Deluxe asym and was looking through posts about people always ditching a Hennessy and going for a WBBB? I was thinking about doing the same but I don't know if it is worth it. What is so much better or more appealing about them than the Hennessy's?

I am about to make the change too, I was looking at under quilts while spending the night in my explorer deluxe and the key areas for me are the foot box, and the under quilt matches the Dbl 1.7 with the shelf. I'll probably go with a tarp too just because the wife won't be happy about 400 any more out less than 500.

There is an active thread in the Hennessey forum discussing why people switch from HH to WB which may help you.

Just when I thought I was ready, I spent the night in my Explorer Deluxe, and slept like a baby. It's been a while for me due to job life and weather, but I keep looking at the foot box of the BB and can't help but think it would have a flatter lay. But do I really want a flatter lay... My only experience is the HH and my right leg seems to have that excessive pressure that is noticeable and I might have an even better nights sleep with the footbox..

I am just concerned that it's the difference between 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound. I spent a fortune (to me) for a small improvement upgrading to that... But at $175 for the BB, just getting the hammock may be doable. But.. But the cooler tarp...oh and the underquilt... Like a moth to a flame.

Would the under quilt work from WB work for the Hennessy? Or is there ones that are specifically made for them

I recently switched from a HH expedition to a Blackbird. For me was not an improvement...at best a lateral move.
I was comfy in the Hennessy how ever it was hung but have been finding it difficult to get as comfy in the Blackbird.

I've had both the HH and the Blackbird, now use a Clark. The Blackbird is a very comfortable hammock, until the one side you enter on stretches out a bit, which happens if you use it as a chair as much as i do. Then it becomes considerably less comfortable. If that happens with a HH, you can get an additional zipper sewn on the other side, you can't do that with a Blackbird.

some folks are into "if it ain't broke don't mess with it" and some folks "anything different must be better". It's 2/3 attitude and 1/3 maybe. ;-) bottom vs side entry was an issue but H added a side zip model. Folks whine about the suspension but it is easily modified.

If you have a side zip a quilt is probably a quilt. If you have a bottom entry you need a shorty that will move out of the way. That should work on any side entry.

If you want to get a sense of what you are missing go to some group hangs, be nice, and you will probably get some folks to show you their rigs. An alternative is to get a coupon and go buy 4 yards of nylon from Joann's and make a lashed end then turn it into a gathered end and see what you think. Then you will have a spare or a lot of stuff sack material. ;-)

If you're comfortable laying in your Hennessy, then why move to a Blackbird? I chose to go to a Blackbird DL because I use a pad, and my ENO wasn't playing nicely with it.
The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.
