    Removable Ridgline?

I was wondering has anyone every made their Ridgline on their hammock removable? It seems like if you made the ridgeline and bug net removable then it could be used as a hammock just to relax in on a nice day. Has anyone ever tried it?

Most of them are removable... The one I bought from arrow head just has two loops on either end, one inside whoopie sling the other just a buried eye... So in a matter of second you can just unloop it and be ridgeline free...

A Dutch Biner on one of the RL loops .. would make a snap to remove or replace while the hammock is hung .. it could stay in whatever method you use to stow .. and only add a few grams ..

You might already know, but just in case,

Another option is a zippermodification by 2QZQ.
I did that, and I'm very satisfied with the result!

hey jburke i just moved from columbia up to salem. is your name jason by any chance? oh and the beaners can be found by just google searchin it. ill tell u another idea though, look into the grand trunk nano as a second lounger hammock. ive got a hennessy as well and i carry both of them. the nano wieghs only 6 oz with the slings and softshackles and its about the size of a coke can. u can pack in the top of your bag and just take it out and set it up in about a min. then u can brake on the trail and not have to deal with your big hammock. oh and its as good as a table when settin up camp. i put the nano up first then un load my pack in it, and go to town settin up base camp. hope this helps.

Finally made the removable ridge line! now i can use it to just lounge around in without having to be on the inside! Also the ridge line tension is adjustable.

So here's what I do with my HH classic asym expadition.
At the foot end where the slit is there is a bowline loop connecting the ridgeline to the suspension. Cut the ridge line just before the loop, so the loop is left completely intact. Purachase a micro beaner. Tie a new bowline at the end of the ridgeline. Now use the beaner to connect the 2 loops. You can now have a convertable hammock. Detach the ridge line, flip the hammock over and lay like a regular hammock.
