    Recommendations?

    Thanks Bill

I look at the small number of reads of this thread and realize that the separate Forums contribute to the segregation of thinking and knowledge of hammocks and innovation.

Yes, I own Clarks, but whether good or otherwise, this Flex180 is such a substantial change in hammock architecture -- to the best of my knowledge -- I would rather this were posted in the General Hammock Talk, and ask the moderator to leave it there, for broader discussion.

When I read the specs, it says this is essentially a two-person hammock. However, I can't find enough info to explain what that means or how it's accomplished. The Flex 180 apparently doesn't use the same architecture as Clark's previous attempt, the Vertex, at two-person hammocks. I would like to know more about it.

The quest for a two-person hammock seems like a choice of practical, comfortable, and intimate. If you can't be intimate, then what's the point of sleeping together in a hammock? If you can't be comfortable, why not sleep alone? And if you have to use three trees like with the Vertex, that's just not practical.

Looking forward to hearing more about this product.

Man, you have just bought into something new. A lot of us have been waiting on someone to get one of these and put it through its paces so we could begin to decide if we wanted to perhaps try one. I have no advise as to how to use it as I have only seen its picture and read Clark's write up. My opinion, worthless as it is, is that it looks most attractive as a one person hammock with tons of space inside for gear stowage. I am interested in your efforts so please keep posting with results of your efforts.

I was locked into the NX250 but really did not research the Clark site enough to know this existed. I am a side sleeper and was looking for the flattest and larger but not huge hammock.
I was cruising the for sale section and there was a almost new flex 180 for a great discount!!!!
    Had to try it

I get back home tomarrow then head to the boundary waters for 10 days
" not taking the hammock" but in month or two should have a good 10 to 14 days in it and will report back .
I doubt it will be a 2 person unit in my case as I wanted more of a larger hammock.
    well time will tell!!!!

I don't know about the flex, but I have the Vertex, and it is super. My husband and I love it. My husband wants to hammock camp more now since we can hang together.
I takes three trees, but that is no problem with all the trees here in SC.

I am passing through Salt Lake around Thanksgiving and might just wait to see em in person, assuming Clark has some kind of storefront that is open to the public. My main concern with both the Flex and the Vertex is the lack of a Z-liner/pockets/bottom insulation. I wonder.. would they work with two under quilts, side by side?

    underquilt

I ordered an underquilt from UGQ , he will make any size you like to specialty fit the Flex 180. a great person to work with and quality is the top of the line.

I used my 2 Phoenix UQ's on the Vertex, and they worked great. The vertex also has a bit pocket on each side. It is a hanging pocket and not for insulation, but with an UQ who needs a pocket for insulation. The pockets are big enough to put my shoes and other stuff in them. I love the Vertex.
