If you only could carry one type of line for every purpose, what would it be, and how much of it would you take?

Dynaglide.
No idea how much. Depends on how crazy you want to get playing "What if?"

Amsteel. Useful and strong, lightweight, and floats. The amount would depend on the What if's as oldgringo pointed out.
Dynaglide for me and I would carry atleast 200' just for gits and shiggles. Never know when you feel like some splicing...

My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.
Dynaglide, for me it's the best compromise of strength and weight. I generally carry enough to replace broken suspension lines.
my hammock has webbing. so zing-it for all else.

If I had suspension spares - 7/16 amsteel.
If I carry my extra whoopies like I do (pack rat), its Zing-it 2.2mm, 100ft.
3 or 4mm climbing cord. Cheap, light and rated for nearly 4KN static load.. Probably more reliably than paracord too.
