i hope that one day this stuff becomes established enough as to lower the price.
was sil nylon ever far more expensive than it is now?
Whoohooo! I'm off to buy my lottery ticket. Cuben tarps for everyone if I win.

Yep - wish it wasn't so expensive but I really want some. Red and blue would both be good for stuff sacks and backpacks. Maybe a tarp from the blue...think I'd rather have the clear for that, personally.
Gardenville made a cuben hammock, quilt, and some clothing. Both colors would be good for those as well.

Hmmm... I can't seem to figure out which ticket to buy... there are too many lottery ticket choices... so I haven't bought lottery tickets yet.
I'll let you know if and when I win - I'll have to arrange to send you your tarp from my party yacht down in Rio de Janeiro.

Hi,
I ordered 9 yards on Sep 16. I have an email confermation but no confermation on shipping. They only had Blue in stock last week and not much of that. It will be the 0.33 ounce per sq yard material.
I also will get some samples of both colors in different weights.
The price per yard was $19.54 per yard and then add a bit for shipping.
When I called and ordered mine they said it was in stock but I really had hoped they would ship sooner rather than later. I may have been wrong on that idea.
PS. My Cuben Hammock is hanging up in my back yard. I spent some time in it late this afternoon. I am thinking about sleeping out in it tonight.
Bill - the pics of your cuben hammock with you laying in it make it look shorter than most hammocks. Is it really shorter or is that just how it appears in the pics? Can you get mostly flat in it? That's a very light hammock...just wondering how much weight savings were from material and how much from changing the dimensions.

Jeff,
The Hammock is 106 inches between the knots. The angle of the picture might make it look short. I am 72 inches tall and it is fine for my height.
It is only 48 inches wide as that is the width of the material.
I do lay more or less flat and can lay on my side if I want to.
I think that Cuben material was 0.44 ounce per sq yard or real close. I have a Japanese friend that made a Hammock out of some of the light weight Tyveck and used the type white cord like used a little of for his tree rope. His Hammock was a little lighter because of that cord. I have mixed feelings about using that thin cord from the Hammock to the tree and tying it around a tree because of possible damage to the bark.
I have been told to just stick a few sticks between the cord and the bark and that would work fine.
I keep thinking I might be able to use something I am carrying that could go under the cord but don't have that answer yet.
I don't carry much extra.
Interesting. How do you think Cuben would hold up on a bridge hammock?
