Hanging HH Jungle with rapple rings/caribiner...?

So....I'm wondering, with all the methods available to us, how I will hang my hammock and I've come across this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iJTj...ure=plpp_video

For me, this is very appealing.

What kind of rope is he using?

    ..and...

How was it attached to his hammock?

It looks to me like 5mm static climbing rope.
If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid.

He is using the stock ropes but this is considered by most to be a bad way to hang using ropes and rings. It's called the Garda Hitch and the load on the rope in between the rope can compress the rope to the point of failure. It's dropped several folks over the year. Much better and nearly the same thing is to use webbing right through the rings in the same manor, it won't compress to the point of breaking. You can use the rope on the hammock tied to the rings in a loop to hold them then run the webbing though for the adjustable side. Easy and fast to adjust. Cinch Buckles are another option that works in the same way but are lighter and more compact than rings.

    Thanks pgibson.

I'm still rummaging through tutorials and learning the lingo, so bear with me, hehe.

If you had an opinion, what would be the best way to hang a HH Deep Jungle?

I have my eye on the Tri-Glide straps at JRB, if that's a nice option.

I bought cinch buckles at Harbor Freight for $4 a pair, cut off the buckle and sewed a loop on the end. Then I added Elephant Trunks (Smart Outdoors) and Amsteel chainlinks (Arrowhead Equip)
    Works Great!!!!

I tried that Garda Hitch method once. I found that if you do not have the rings attached to a carabiner, and the carabiner attached to the tree straps, but just tied the rings to the tree straps, you could not get the hammock suspension rope that goes through the rings off if you tightened it too much. The opened carabiner was the only way to remove the suspension from the straps. That or cut it off.

I think most people who want an adjustable connection to the tree straps now use suspension straps, as mentioned above, or gone to whoopie slings as the best way to do quick adjustments to the tension on the suspension.

Paul at Arrowhead is running a sale right now on Whoopie Slings and Toggles.
I've changed my 3 HH's to Whoopies. It's a very easy conversion, and makes hanging and adjusting a breeze.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.....I've been reading as much as allowable.

I've been pretty sick, unable to read more than a few minutes at a time......but...I think I've come up with a solution...

Dutch clips (or Tri-Glides) - 1" strapping - either Elephant Trunks or Cinch Buckles - and Amsteel Chain Links.

I think it'll work for me. We'll see.
