    Superfly Tarp and seam sealing?

I just got back from a week in the BWCA and used a Superfly tarp over a BMBH. Overall I was very impressed and this will be my final setup for awhile. However I noticed on a night of bad rain that the area around the pullouts was dripping rain through but not the top ridge line part. Wasn't a problem for me as they were spaced away from my hammock. Is the superfly supposed to come seam sealed? Any advice from superfly owners on what areas need seam sealing and best methods?

You don't need to seal the RL (I did anyways ) but you do need to seal the side pullouts. Make sure to use a silicone based product. I have found that Permatex Flowable Silicone works really well (Thanks to Hawk-eye for turning me on to this stuff).

Just one of my pull outs did the same thing. Forgot to mark it so sealed up all 4 when I got home. Not a big deal.

Is that flowable silicone stuff cheaper and/or as good as the commercial seam sealer they sell at outdoor stores.
Man- I can't spell worth a darn this morning! I am about to wear out my backspace key.

Absolutely ... actually because of it's characteristics I would say better than silnet.

looks like the pricing on the internet is about the same for both products but I can get the permatex at any nearby auto zone. My nearest outfitter place is a good bit farther.

Another vote for the flowable silicone here. As mentioned, the ridgeline does not need to be sealed because of the way it is sewn.

Has nothing to do with how it's sewn ... it's Warbonnet Magic!

Then again it might be the heat getting to me
